It’s never too late to start out doing one thing worthwhile.
Just like the story of Mae Watson. From the time she was simply a little woman, she had wanted to be an educator. She enjoyed kids and had a true gift for teaching. But circumstances had kept her from attending college.

Then at some point she shocked all her friends. She left her desk and headed for college. “But Mae,” her friends prompt, “aren’t you a little old for faculty?”
“No,” was Mae’s plucky answer. “Of course, I could be older than the rest of the students. But I can not begin any younger. And also the longer I delay, the older I will be.”
So Mae started college. She soon discovered that age created little difference. The four years flew by. When she stepped up for her diploma she knew it had been well value the effort.
There are various individuals like Mae. Typically it takes courage to step out of a rut, but it is continually gratifying once you head toward your goal — regardless of what your age.
In Southern California there is a fine Christian high college, Culter Academy, that was founded years ago by Mabel Culter. In 1954 Miss Culter, age sixty, set that being the president of a noted Christian college was fine, but that there were different pressing desires within the world.
She confided to her friends that she wanted to be a missionary to Korea!
“What?” they thought, “she can’t very mean it — not at her age.”
Her friends tried to influence her that she was needed at the academy. (They were too polite to inform her that she was simply “too old” for any mission board to just accept). But their discouragement may not hold back Mabel Culter. She knew what she wanted and she or he went when it. She applied to the -Evangelical Alliance Mission (TEAM) and explained that her experience was simply what was needed. And to the surprise of everybody, the mission board agreed. So off to Korea she flew to assist establish an orphanage, a hospital and a Bible institute!
The standard of an individual’s contribution in life will not depend on age. True, youth has vigor. But maturity has the advantage of experience. Challenges are for those who accept them. God will not limit the applicants to a certain age bracket. It is never too late to try and do the work if God is asking you to it.
